Do You Vacation or Travel?

I’ve been scared to write this post. It could paint me a bit of a negative light depending on your stance on the issue. This post also touches on a legal case I was involved in. If I seem slightly vague at times, that’s why. This is the 100% real story of how I ended up taking home $100,000 that – by all accounts – I should not have had.

I’ve always liked commitment devices. The idea behind them is simple: Something that helps you achieve goals you already set out for yourself by setting up a system that helps hold yourself accountable. These can be public or personal, but I’ve always found them helpful after the fact – even if while I was working I slightly regretted their use.

The For this year, I’ve decided to list out some of my favorites each month. This includes books, posts, podcasts, music, TV shows, products – whatever I’m currently consuming. The hope is to share some of the greats from each for others to enjoy as well. I’ll start with books so far since this has been an especially lucky start to the year with a number of books I’ve really enjoyed.

What’s Your Growth Story?

Written by Adam on February 7, 2018. Updated January 8, 2023.

The change between where you are now and where you are at some future date is your growth story. What’s yours? If you were going to start your story today, where would it begin? What would you be telling people you want to change? What would you say you’re doing today to get there?

At some point in the future – it could be a month, a year, 5 years or even more, what would you want to be telling people about your growth towards that change? If you were to tell them how you did it, what would future-you say? What habits did you develop that helped you achieve this? What was the hardest part?
